It was the summer of 1763 and western Pennsylvania was under attack. Chief Pontiac had declared war on all white settlers. His raiding parties swept through the countryside killing, burning and destroying everything in their path.
Now he laid seige to Fort Pitt, the gateway to the West. These frontier farmers were ill-equipped to battle such a fearsome force.
But out of the wilds of Westmoreland County came a band of fighting men known as the Pennsylvania Rangers. Actual times, events, and in some cases people are used in this fast-paced story of the frontier.
The second portion of the book brings us into the year 1774 and the occupation of the area by a rabble from Virginia who had been sent by Governor Dunmore to secure western Pennsylvania for himself. Finally the rangers are activated to fight once more for their freedom.
